June 2018 Alton Towers
25 dancers performed at Alton Towers in June along with dance schools from around the country to a fantastic audience who really enjoyed all the performances.
It was a great weekend organised by ‘Chance2Dance’ where the girls and boys had the opportunity to spend the day in the theme park and then perform in the show in the evening.
The dancers had been working really hard on their performances and danced both routines brilliantly.
Was a brilliant weekend!
June 2017 – Indigo at the o2
35 dancers recently performed at Indigo at the 02. Dancers ranged in age from 7 to 18 years old and performed two numbers to a rock inspired dance show. It was an amazing day with dancers coming together from all over the UK to perform in the show.
The dances were choreographed by Emily Bainbridge and Emma Bowman both who are due to leave the school this summer to pursue a career in dance. Emily at LIPA (Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts) and Emma who will be studying dance at Chichester University. It was a great finale to their time at CJs and they produced two great dances.
The dancers had worked for many months on the routines and certainly did Dover proud with their performances. For many it was the first time on a London stage.
Principal, Carol Jenkins who took the group to the 02 along with Assistant Principal Rachel Bainbridge said, ‘Performing in London venues is always exciting, new stages, new friends to make, a new experience and a real highlight in the year. It was wonderful to be able to perform at the 02 and we had a fantastic day. I would like to say a huge thank you to Emily and Emma for working so hard with the girls and to Rachel who did so much behind the scenes preparation, and of course a massive well done to all the dancers!’
February 2016 – Legacy “Just Believe” – Copper Box Arena in the Olympic Park

33 Dancers performed in the Copper Box Arena in the Olympic Park. All 3 dance teams performed fantastically in front of a huge audience.
All were awarded 1st place but the top scoring team of the dance division was the Youth Team trained by Yasmin Farmer. They came away with the Grand Champion banner.
Well done to everyone you were brilliant.

A very busy competition for everyone but a great time with every stunt hit and every tumble performed.Our last competitive cheer with many memories to treasure and a fantastic start to our future dance entries.
We have had many wonderful years competing with all these girls but now moving on to an exciting future concentrating on dance, and what a way to start winning the Youth Dance 1st Place Trophy. Great job girls.
We are pleased to announce that every one of the girls who tried out for a place on a Vista Twister was placed.So proud of all you have achieved and look forward to watching you develop further in your new squads and also bring home more dance trophies here at CJ’s. Best of both worlds!

The biggest venue the girls had ever performed at with a seating capacity of 9500. It was a great experience for everyone and an opportunity to meet some of the top squads of the country. For many it was their first ever competition and they came away buzzing from the weekend.
All teams were awarded fantastic trophies which are now displayed in the hall. The judges comments were very positive and also helpful for the next competition. Our new uniforms for every cheerleader looked fab! Many people commented on them during the day.
Carol and Rachel, team coaches were really pleased with their performances and already looking forward to the next competition in the summer.

Carol and Rachel took the cheerleaders to the final competition of the BCA year for what turned out to be one the best competition for the teams.
Against many other teams the girls performed to their max, coming away with six trophies out of the seven categories entered.
Just like in Telford they didn’t drop a single stunt the whole day and with the extra work they had done on their tumbling skills did extremely well.
The whole team were fantastic, supporting each other and showing great sportsmanship. It was a brilliant end to a great year for the CJ’s Stars
May 2014 – The Royal Albert Hall
Forty seven excited dancers aged six to fifteen travelled to London on 17th May to perform in ‘Stars in the Round’ in the Royal Albert Hall.
The routine was choreographed by Kirsty, Louise and Yasmin especially for the event and was very popular with the huge audience of 5,000 people.
They all danced fantastically and brought tears to the eyes of all the teachers who were watching from the sides. As part of the show the girls all danced in two finale routines with the other 1200 performers.
Watching everyone perform together in these routines was breath taking.
April 2014 – Telford Nationals BCA National Championships Telford International Centre
National Champions: Mini Hip Hop
National Champions: Junior Jazz
3rd Place Youth Stunt Squad
Over the Easter weekend twenty five cheerleaders travelled to Telford to compete in the National Championships.
They had worked very hard on their routine over many months and performed fantastically not dropping one stunt on any routine.
In dance they won the Mini Hip Hop Championship and the Junior Jazz Championship.
In the cheer categories the Youth Stunt Squad came third out of sixteen squads. Other groups narrowly missed awards by coming fourth and often only being 0.2 or 0.3 marks away from a third place.
A great time was had by all and a decision made to do another competition later in the year. Coaches Carol and Rachel were thrilled with the improvement the girls had made over the year
March 2013 – Telford Cheer Success! BCA National Championships Telford International Centre, Telford

Thirty two cheerleaders from CJs Dance and Fitness, travelled to Telford to compete in the BCA National Championships. Top judges from the states were on the panel marking all the routines. In total the girls returned home with eight awards.
Head Coach, Carol Jenkins said, “it was a great weekend with such a lovely atmosphere.The girls and their parents all enjoyed themselves and we can’t wait for our next competition at the end of this year. The Tiny and Mini Squad were delighted with the medals they received too and their beaming smiles said it all.
A big thank you to everyone who helped in the build up to the competition and also on the day. Cheerleading is most definitely a team effort.”

Girls from CJ’s returned from Telford where they took part in the Midlands Classic Cheer Competition.
Squads from all over the UK performed their routines to judges who had flown over from the States especially for the weekend.
CJ’s Cheerleaders performed impressively gaining seven trophies out of the nine sections they entered.

Nearly eighty cheerleaders from four years to adults travelled to Eastbourne to take part in the Southern Classic Competition. Judges from USA, Ireland and the UK judged the squads on their showmanship, team spirit, technique, stunts, and choreography.
A great weekend was had by all who attended with the highlight being on the Sunday when CJs ‘stole the day,’ with their routines.
By the end of the weekend an impressive 15 trophies had been won by the cheerleaders,much to the great excitement of the Tiny Squad who had performed for the first time in a competition and couldn’t believe it when they came home with two first place trophies almost as big as them.
All coaches had worked really hard on the routines over the preceding months and their efforts really paid off. Carol, Head Coach would like to thank all coaches for the many hours they spent rehearsing the teams and also a big thank you to all the parents who helped on the day with make up, hair etc

December 2010 – Competition Success – Northern Classic Cheer Competition The Winter Gardens Blackpool

Sixty two cheerleaders braved the snow to travel over three hundred miles to take part in the Northern Classic Cheer Competition, competing against 1500 cheerleaders from around the UK. The months of hard work certainly paid off as the teams impressed the judges coming home with an amazing 9 trophies in stunt team categories, cheer squads, dance teams and duos. The youngest competitor was just six years old while the most senior was nearly nineteen.
All cheerleaders had an amazing time and were supported by a huge number of parents and friends from the school. The Winter Gardens was a wonderful place to perform in and a great opportunity to meet lots of other cheerleaders. Everyone had a brilliant time and are already talking about the routines for next year. Carol would like to thank all coaches, parents & friends of the school for their support in this huge event.

November 2009 – Competition Success! – Southern Classic Cheerleading Competition – The Brighton Conference Centre

Mini Dance Team 4th Place, Youth Dance Team 1st Place, Senior CoEd Dance Team 4th Place
Sixty Cheerleaders, from six to seventeen years competed in The Southern Classic, a National competition held at The Brighton Centre, organised by The British Cheerleading Association. Squads from all over the UK tumbled, cheered and tossed their flyers hoping to earn one of the coveted trophies. After two days of competing the squads from CJ’s had impressed the judges enough to earn an amazing seven trophies, three 1st places, one 2nd and three 3rd places.
The atmosphere in the Brighton Centre was electric and everyone rose to the challenge and most certainly performed their best. A fantastic time was had by all and the hard work and extra rehearsals definitely paid off. To come away with so many trophies was the icing on the cake
Carol would like to thank all parents for their continued support and help on the day and to the other coaches who helped to choreograph the routines.

November 2008 – 2nd Place Junior Novice
Southern Classic Cheerleading Competition – The Brighton Conference Centre
Cheerleaders from 7- 14 years old took part in their first ever Cheerleading competition at the Brighton Conference Centre on Saturday 22nd November.
Their routine included stunts, tumbling, jumps and motions and was marked by a panel of judges including some from the home of cheer….the USA.
The girls were delighted when their routine was awarded second place and they were awarded a trophy. Next year three squads hope to compete and impress the judges when they return to Brighton in October.

October 2008 – 3rd Place Senior Challenge
Mardi Gras Challenge – The Sadlers Wells Theatre London
This was the second time the Senior Cabaret Troupe have been awarded a place at this competition. Held at The Sadlers Wells Theatre in London, thirty junior and senior dance teams battle it out for a chance to placed in the top three dance troupes in the country.
The standard, as before, was extremely high but CJ’s pupils, who had practised for many months for the event really put on a spectacular performance to earn their third place.
Their routine was to “Carnival De Paris,” and incorporated many dance styles thus enhancing the entertainment value.

October 2008 – Juniors
Mardi Gras Challenge – The Sadlers Wells Theatre London
The Junior Cabaret Troupe also performed their routine to “Mission Impossible.”
They were very proud of having the opportunity to dance in the Junior Finals and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of dancing alongside the other top thirty troupes of the UK.
Judges included top West End Actors, Disney directors and Bonnie Langford.

October 2006 – 3rd Place Senior Challenge
Mardi Gras Challenge – The Sadlers Wells Theatre London
Dancers from the school travelled to this fantastic venue known as …The Home of Dance….to take part in the Senior Mardi Gras Challenge.
In front of top judges they performed their routine to “Masquerade.” The hard work they had put into the rehearsals certainly paid off and they were awarded 3rd Place. The troupe received a trophy and £500 to spend.
The atmosphere was fantastic and all troupes supported and encouraged each other whether winners or not. To have the opportunity to dance on such an amazing stage makes everyone a winner but to then be awarded a 3rd made the day even more special.
